We will be in San Francisco for 3 nights in September and are looking for restaurant recommendations. We are hoping to find a really good Mexican restaurant, and any others that people recommend (we love everything).

Hi there, these are my three recommendations

a) For good Mexican food go to Tres Agaves. It is a very nice restaurant, fairly price and it has a huge tequila selection. www.tresagaves.com

b) Burma Superstar. This is a tiny restaurant that offers a fusion of Indian, Chinese and Thai food. It is delicious, great prices and nice atmosphere. Location: 309 Clement St. San Francisco, CA 94118-2315

c) Finally, Steps of Rome Caffe. This is a very lively Italian restaurant in the heart of San Francisco's Italian neighborhood. The food is great, and the waitress are very funny. Make sure you go at night, the atmosphere of the restaurant is great!! http://www.stepsofrome.com/caffe/index.php

Enjoy!

Wow, you have narrowed down your search to potentially hundreds of restaurants. I would suggest you go to Zagat online and pay a small fee to sign up and check out all the places that may interest you. There are too many to list here and every neighborhood you may be in will have something good!

Not to pitch my own place of business or anything but i work at a restaurant in a town south of san fran itself, apparently its ranked blahde blah and such so it is known as being pretty good or so I'm told. Its in Half Moon Bay and is called Pasta Moon, its italian really good pasta...hence the name its kind of expensive but great! have fun when your out here.

Ok, if you like meat you have to go to HOUSE OF PRIME RIB on Vanness.

For laid back casual but good food there's a Cuban Restaurant CHA CHA CHA in Height St.

For high end dressed up and expensive dinner, MICHEAL MINA.

ASIAN DI CUBA, for expensive but a good atmosphere (very hip)

MEIKADEH, North Beach, for the most amazing Mediterranean/Persian food and kabobs.

Best Chinese food ever, ERIK'S, South San Francisco on Church St.

PS: I don't want to be rude towards anyone's opinion, but I want to mention that Steps of Rome in north beach, which is very famous, is not a good place to eat for their insanitary environment. They have cock roaches throughout the whole restaurant which I have witnessed myself. This place used to be one of my favorites but after a roach was in our bread basket, and one walking on the wall behind my head I never went back there again.

American style? try McDonald's but if you want something classier you can go to Burger King. Americans usually eat chinese, italian, or Thai food, so we don't really have authentic American food unless we ripped it off from someone else... except of course it is hamburger's and hot dogs, which i will probably find out that Americans didn't even invent either...
